After the school went to film three times and as a member of a family where education was held in the highest honors, of course I'm always a fan of film developed. However, I am always brought up stress. The school is not the only means of education, and in certain situations, there is no official school to learn important information. Never the less, the school is a time tested successful method for establishing a formidable foundation.
The Big Five
The "Big Five" films> Schools of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Southern California (USC) and the American Film Institute (AFI) on the west coast in Los Angeles and New York University (NYU) and Columbia University on the East Coast in New York.
UCLA is best for their authors, who dominate the summer movie screenplay credits known to get to know USC powerhouse for its directors, AFI often incredible cinematographers, NYU is responsible for the ringingEast Coast filmmakers style, and Columbia an all around great school with exceptional film theory for all programs. Any school that you go to the Big 5 is an incredible experience for each program. They are talking big names, the Professionals and heads of major companies to teach courses or as guests because of the reputation of the school. You can not lose.
USC The downside is that it is the same as a studio. Only 5 people get a thesis project directly if you are a graduate managementStudent. Each student comes into the line to one of the 5 and then 20 or 30 people at the end do not get a thesis project, but one of the crew on the 5 people that will help not to make a movie. The advantage of USC, she is again, that they run as a studio. USC is often unmatched in their ability to network and aggressively markets its students to the industry.
UCLA is mainly known for its screenwriter. USC could be capable of out-networking UCLA, but the authors can not write off UCLAWriter. An average Screenwriting UCLA graduate student is left with 8 feature-length screenplays. UCLA scriptwriters to write a feature-length script in a 10-week quarter, similar to the most in a real 8-week writing assignment. USC screenwriter, write 1 feature-length screenplay over a period of 1 year. You do the math.
The Peter Stark Producing Program at USC is great for the production of film executives, but the UCLA Producing Program is ideal for teaching producers all thereis to know, go out and start doing simple.
Like USC, "only 5 will direct a thesis project," AFI is still hardcore. Not only are there a limited number of theses, not every filmmaker is asked to come back to school for a second year. It's harder to get into one of the film schools, than it is to get into Harvard Law School, just because Harvard takes a higher percentage of their candidates as the major film schools do so for meAFI and USC really was not worth it, cut or snubbed over after you have already had the chance of winning the lottery to be admitted defeat yet. After I win the lottery for the second time was just not desirable.
Other Film Schools
Another school worth mentioning is accepted at Florida State University, the equivalent amount of writers, directors, cameramen and editors, so that they can form teams for theses. This seems to make since. Temple UniversityPhiladelphia is great, and applying a must for experimental filmmakers.
But in general, each film program is a great film program, as long as you learn.
